weather alert

Lightning is almost as hard to photograph as a rambunctious toddler. We had quite a light show tonight, not something that happens around here very often and certainly not in June, so I was pretty excited to capture a small bolt before the thunderstorm was over. graduation is coming

Isn't she beautiful? And check out those stunning eyes! It's that time of year again--spring is a great time to get some last-minute senior portraits. It's amazing how much kids change from the beginning of the school year to the end so it's a good time to capture them just the way they are when they graduate.

"walter"

Meet "Walter", an 800-year-old old-growth Coast Redwood tree at Alliance Redwoods Camp. He's a beauty, isn't he?

3rd grade art project

This is a fun project I'm working on as the art docent for Spencer's 3rd grade class. Today we did figure drawing of bodies in motion (each of the kids in the class took a turn modeling), so now I'll take all of the pictures and turn them into a digital "flip book". Here's a quick preview of Spencer's drawings of his classmates. The final video will have 16 pictures drawn by 16 different kids. Cool!

sixth picture in the sixth folder

I saw this on a friend's blog: find the sixth picture in the sixth folder of your "My Pictures" file and put it on your blog. This is my youngest on the carousel at Disneyland, taken a couple of years ago. Don't worry, the motion blur is on purpose--I shot this for an assignment for a photography class I was taking. Here are a few more from that same trip, it's pretty easy to find lots of motion at Disneyland...

rainbow

"We have not the reverent feeling for the rainbow that a savage has, because we know how it is made. We have lost as much as we gained by prying into that matter." ~~Mark Twain

My children are not exactly "tough", but they were trying really hard to look the part...

sleep in heavenly peace

Wouldn't it be great to just sleep this peacefully while the world goes by around you? This little one was absolutely precious--she was so good during the entire photo shoot, whether she was asleep or awake. And I love the hair!

27 days

This is one of the pictures from my "autobiographical photography" class. The assignment is to take a self-portrait every day for 27 days. I'm including each of my children in some way in the pictures, so this is my way of including Holly, who's away at college (and a good way to avoid having my face in the picture, as well!).
